    Question Surveys

    Hi

Need some input on doing a survey.

    Basic overview.
I want to start a Promotion business at my local uni. I will start off by doing sevices as Street promotional campaigns, General promotions, general admin ect So anything companies can use students to do part-time.

I firstly want to go out to the uni and do a survey with the students, just to find out how many of them are intrested in doing promotional work, how much they expect to get paid, what they like ,dont like about it ect and mainly to get a database of potential promoters.

So the Q's that i have come up with so far for the survey is
Have you done Promo work before?
    If yes - with who?
    If no - why not?

    Expected Pay?
Would you like to do Promo work in the future?

Those are the only one's that i think of as relevant for now ,afterwards i will take all the guys that want to do promotions and get them to fill out a more detailed 'application form'.

What other questions do you think I will need to ask that will help me in developing/Analysing the business.
What questions can I ask that will help me pitch the business to clients who want to promote there products

And anything else you think I need to know.

    Thanks

ok....those questions are fine, but what you really need to know is whether clients are gonna buy your stuff, more so than whether you're able to sell it to them

you'll need to survey the clients and get them to sign letters of intent, stating that if you are going to provide the talent, they'll buy it

    include questions like:

are you planning to have marketing expenditures in the next 12 months?
what kind of media have you used ion the past?
what is your attitude to direct marketing?

    good luck

    Excellent Thanks,

What i wanted to do was get the survey results together from the students and then present it to comapnies ,saying I have x amount of students who are willing/intrested in Promotional work.

Def will use those questions in the client survey but,how do i get into companies and get the decision makers to do a survey.

I want to use this to get into the marketing field and later move onto hosting focus groups , do Banners vechile wrapping ect

Phone calls, lots and lots and lots of phone calls

I'd expect a solid 5 hours straight on the phone every day

I've noticed this to be a fair average with most startups

For the 1st 12 months I wouldn't be expecting you to get off the phone

Pick your self a good carrier, 'caus it's gonna get expensive

    Also, signup to http://www.intellicontact.com/

It's the best tool to create surveys and build mailing lists

You should have over 100 potential clients on your list who you are sending surveys and other updates

Promo work is quite diverse and therefore it is necessary to either clearly state what they would be expected to do or to ask what they are willing to do.

Having been a student not that many years ago (not sure how much longer I can claim that though) the idea of "easy money" always seemed great when seeing the ads on the PC etc but typically became a very different thing when it actually came to doing the thing. I know many who signed up to doing door to door sales of which many never even bothered to turn up on day one and only a tiny number lasted past the first week. You will need to take this into consideration when reviewing the results.

    Hi

    Thanks for the link Akula

Astaroth , what i want to start will be nothing like that, it will not involve the students to sell a product ect, they will just be promoting ,doing demonstrations ect - Sometimes may involve selling if a client really wants it, but it will be a prob at a promo price for the goods.

Jasaunders - I am in South Africa.

    Thanks for the replys
