    Success Stories

    Hi everyone,
I have seen thousands of articles on this forum about peoples ideas, motivation etc but have never seen a thread regarding whether or not they came to any success. I would just like to start a thread where people can discuss how much they have succeeded on certain ideas and 'not succeeded' on other ideas. Whats your success story?

I have just turned 18 years old and have fallen into the trap of talking and thinking about ideas too much and not putting them into action to test whether or not they work. So I personally have not made my millions, yet haha

Stop thinking about it and just go for it! Your still and still have nothing to lose. Most the successful entrepreneurs from here probably will be too busy to spend time on here.... maybe that's one of the reasons.

Well I haven't really succeeded yet... but I did found investments through this website for my online recruitment venture... and a great business partner as well....... I guess I can tick off stage one now of my path to success.

I suggest you become a man of action. Or instead treat each thought as an action without hesitation. Just make a move in order to be successful. It could be one thing or many things , just so SOMETHING.

Thanks a lot guys for your contributions, you are both completely right I do need to get out of this slump of 'it will happen on its own', I do need to start pushing myself and my ideas. The problem I find is that no matter what idea I have I will have such a huge problem with pouring the next few months trying to make it happen when I have no idea whether or not its a good idea. Asking friends and family is in a way pointless as they will always want to boost you and tell you 'it's great!'. The other problem I find is posting what could potentially be a huge success on the internet where someone with more experience and funding could beat you to the goal. How does everyone here overcome these problems? Who do you go to that you can talk to completely honestly and in confidence?
    Thankyou in advance

I succeeded, even by failing. My goal in life is freedom and being busy with things I like. That is what being entrepreneur is all about for me.

If you want a monetary unsuccesstory I can give you one. My previous business partner and me saw a market in small Dutch firms who needed good retail point of sales (POS) software for Windows. So we built it. However we needed marketing etc. So we got a third shareholder in who had a lot of experience in that field. In the end we failed because he didn't want to invest money to make the changes that resellers would need... Long story short: we made a bad choice by going with that guy. And I should have seen it coming when we first interviewed him, but I was ignorant back then...

Success came after that, where I started an outsourcing company. Currently we do big software projects, introducing complex self-service software at companies in the training and certification industry. The current project we do is close to 7 figures. This success came with a lot of hard work and some downs too of course.

All in all I still define both as a success, as they both allowed me to do what I wanted at that time. Money isn't everything, life is about living not about owning.

Wow that was a brilliant response jmeijers, and congratulations on your successes! I agree with you totally in the fact that success is not necessarily financial. I wish one day to be location independent and be financially secure. I believe for me it may come down to being a lack of confidence in my ideas, even though I may love them, I hate the idea of being rejected and having to question my own perception of success and failure. People who never fail have never tried anything new/never learn, and I admire your persistence and self-drive. I believe in the long run this is something I am just going to have to overcome and learn to accept that I will not always succeed the first time!
Has anyone here ever had a mentor? There is no one in my life with business experience I can go to advice and support currently
    Thankyou

    8bit-

From what I am reading in your posts, you seem to have a great attitude and desire, but perhaps you are a little too conservative. Exactly how far are you taking your ideas? Do you write them down on paper, google the topic and then decide that its not for you? Do you consult with anyone besides your family and friends? I face the same problem as you, in that my mind is always racing and I have plenty of ideas. But I never actually pursue them...until last year...

There was another post in this section earlier today about 'SCORE.' This is a free service made possible by retired volunteers who have a lot of experience in the business world.

I consulted with them as my partner and I really had no one else to talk to about our ideas. (We started an ATM business, which isn't exactly rocket science, but still requires a lot of attention to detail, legal matters, permits and licenses, etc.)

The real question you need to ask yourself, is 'what are you waiting for.' Take your next small idea and actually give it a go. If you fail, the worst thing that will happen is a loss of a small amount of money, but you will learn a lot in doing so.

Thankyou for such encouraging words and congratulations on your personal success! I have taken my ideas to the point where they are nearly ready to be put out into the marketplace. The boundary I need to overcome is to stop having to make the beta run PERFECT and just get it out there in the first place. I have extensive business plans and projections. I don't have anyone else to consult with apart from friends and family, I don't like discussing ideas in depth with other entrepreneurs in fear they may try to use my idea if it is any good.
I believe I will take a leaf out of your book and just dive into the deep end and go for it! I have nothing to lose and everything to gain even if it does not work how I hope it will!
Thankyou very much to everyone once again
