Studio Idea

Hello all,

I went to a DECA leadership/entrepreneurship confernece last week and came back with the idea of opening my own studio. Brick and mortor are out of the question so I'm aiming at going pruely online.

My target customers would mainly be businesses looking for newer and more eye-catching ways of advertising

My studio (currently nameless) will provide the following services: (which I myslef am fully capable of)

-3d Animation
-Web Design
-Commercials
-Logo Design

If they ask for something larger that I need help on, I'll hire a few kids on web design and 3d animation forums who are dying to get jobs.

I'll have a "Hire Us" page which will include a form they can fill out including their company name, what service they want, describe in detail what you want, etc. Then I will send them back a price estimation

The main problem with this is that they wont want to hire my company becuase I wont have much experience to show. What I plan on doing is going around to local small business and persuading them to hire me to make a webpage for them (for a small, convincing fee)

As for getting experience in logo design, i can make up small companies create logos for them

For the 3d animation, ill make commercials for known companies like sony, coke, amazon, etc. (they dont need to know they weren't actually made for them )

I can show all of my "experience" with a demo reel for companies to watch.

I have the basic layout of my webpage now but I still have to fine tune it.

Plz give me your feedback. (and also a possible name)

Thanks,

Joe

partner with a developer ... in particular a great intranet/internet type guy.

I think you will find your business / his business will lead to more business for both of you to handle.

As an example: i am a developer and partnered with a graphics designer. we (i) landed a huge intranet contract which then landed the designer a complete re-imaging project including their mailers / brochures. which then lead to a complete redesign of their website etc ...

tshesse,

I'm not too sure what you are trying to say. Congrats on landing the deal though.

"businesses like 1 stop shops"

This will be one of my major selling points. You tell us what you want, you can relax while we do all the work. Simple as that.

I am saying ... find a programmer to partner with (preferably one with clients )

I think you will find many willing to do a formal business arrangement

Good luck, it is a very tough and competitive market. You have to be very good at what you do by both graphical/developing talent as well as marketing, usually most individuals don't have both talents, that is why they hire a partner. You might want to work with someone that has done it before? Most people don't make any money in that industry until you get huge, by huge I mean with working with corporate clients, not mom and pop shops and tradesman. It is the nature of the beast. But, if you can find something individual enough and uniquely different than everyone else, you may have a shot at finding your niche in the very saturated industry.
