Street seller - what product?

hi all, i have a couple of friends who are interested in working as street peddlers (for which they have licences), & i was thinking about what things to sell. they currently work for a guy selling balloons, which seem like a great product for street-peddling, because they're so visual & can be seen from a long way away. but i wouldnt like to start selling balloons too as this guy covers most of the towns in the area & i wouldnt like to compete.

summer's coming so there should be increased numbers in the town centre, more people walking by, and of course all the kids weill be out of school, so i reckon there's good room to make some money.

im thinking about staying in the novelty market, like with balloons, but am also wondering about other products.

one idea might be to get an icebox and put some cold lollies or drinks in there, on hot days people will be thristy & wont want to go walking all the way to the shop round the corner, if im selling the thirst-quencher right in front of them then that could give me some real advantage. (of course any idea along these lines will be limited by britain's poor climate!)

any ideas? if i manage to make profits from your suggestions i'll send you some money

I don't recall seeng many American style hotdog stands in places I've visited and lived... Depends where you're going to be selling, i.e the size of the towns, target market. Hotdog stands may be popular as they are a novelty concept in the UK.

Yeah, from experience I have found jewellery popular, especially beaded jewellery which seems popular with young girls or parents buying for small children.
