    Stock

stock - something that nobody likes to talk about.

I hate the fact that nobody talks about stock, I think it is a matter that needs to be spoken of.

Where do you get youre stock from?

Where do dropshippers get stock from ?

I have been told before, that the way to get stock is to simply ring the manufacturer of the product, ask them if they will sell directly to you (unlikely), if they say no, then ask them if they have representing distributors who will sell to you. Is this what retailers do ?

Do retailers do this for every different product they sell ?

What about "business-to-business trade portals" , are these any good for product sourcing ?

Does anybody have any input or feedback to add to this ?

    thankyou

What type of product are you selling?

When i tried to stock up on decent items that i thought would sell, such as motorcycle gear, i called the manufacturer of the product, and they basically ignored me and told me to call my countrie's distributor.
This helped in no manner what so ever, because i wasnt going to make any profit off the product that way.

The same happened when i tried to import dirt bikes.
Especially when the stock quantity is below one 40' container.

Depending on the product that you are selling, try and find a supplier from china maybe (Try Alibaba.com) and maybe a "smaller" scale company can help you out.

Sorry if this wasn't of help mate, just thought id share some of my past expiriences.

Yeah definitely look into importing from china but be careful with scammers. Alibaba.com is a good source, but there are others just make sure you can trust them. Most clothing articles sold on are either made by the person or replicas. It is in my opinion very hard to sell original clothing items on ebay unless one can purchase high volume packages from companies. Idk about other members here but selling original name brand items on ebay is hard, if you are looking for replica clothing you can find them online some are actually very good quality, just make sure to mention that they are replicas and not original.

Drop shipping is very tricky and generally frowned upon by "legitimate" businesses. I have a friend that goest to garage sales and auctions and then sells the stuff on ebay at a profit. 95 to 98% of dropshipping sites are scams so be very careful.

Yeah ok. Thanks for the reply tom, it helped a little bit. I know, I mentioned trade portals (such as alibaba). Also cwish001, you have not looked into dropshipping properly as there a number of legitimate dropshippers who have turnovers of £1,000,000 +. You are right, there are some dropshipping scams, but also there are legitimate dropshippers who have excellent customer service and abide by all the dsr's ect.

Your lack of replies it based on the lack of information provided. Are you looking for rice... cars... boxes.. socks... be more specific and more people will be able to help you...
