Register the business name and any "doing business as" statements with the the Secretary of State Office or Corporation Commission. Verify business name availability and file appropriate registration papers. Obtain state tax permits and contact the Internal Revenue Service and state income tax agency for the tax identification number.

Create the business financial management system with the business' accountant using a spreadsheet, money management software or software-based accounting program. Open checking and savings accounts for the business. Obtain a business debit and credit card or dedicate an already held card for business only purposes.
