Since Little Johnny has no capital and very little experience in building things or tools/machinery to do so, he ask everyone he knows for help. Bob the Builder likes Little Johnnys idea and decides to build product prototype for free. Little Miss Muffin likes to draw on the computer and has some extra time, so she designs Little Johnny a logo, stationary, and web site for free. Pen pal Indiana from Asia creates specializes software for Little Johhnys product and business for free as well; and the story goes on and on till Little Johnny has all the pieces to start his business.
With all the free help, Little Johnny wants to let these folks be part of his success or failure and want to find a way for them to be part of the process going forward. Too small for issuing public shares into the company...all too different and far away to become partners...especially since Little Johnny has never met any of these kind folks in person.
