    Startup costs?

For all of you that own your own companies and small businesses; how much capital did you use to get things up and running? And would you have spent more or less if you could go back and redo things?

my main company started with $27k. Knowing what I know now, I probably could of done it for about half that. Live and learn, I'm glad I did it though.

I'm new so I hope you don't mind me asking what kind of services your first company offered, and is it still up and running? Also, how did you finance it, a loan, cash, an investor?

We started with $_______, fill in the blank.

The point is; you are asking rather personal questions without stating why you are asking, and also without explaining about your own business startup costs, if any.

So, are you doing a research/study or why do you wanna know other people's startup costs?

I'm young and inquisitive. I don't know much about the world. I'm hoping people here can help me learn. I want to start my own business with a few thousand and wanted to know if anyone has tried this and succeeded. Innocent enough I suppose.

Well, startup costs varies with the types of businesses. So, instead of looking at how much each one has spent in starting up their businesses, you should instead specifically focus on your business/industry.

So, try to figure out exactly what you specifically need and determine how much it will all cost you in order to successfully start and launch your own business.

What kind of business are you thinking of starting?

I am interested in selling framed lithographs, and seasonal garden items at my local flea market.

I work at a small retail shop and we sell framed art that women really seem to enjoy. I ask many of them if they have went to the flea markets looking for this type of stuff and many of them tell me that framed lithographs are priced $60 and up and that they refuse to pay that much.

I have the wholesalers contact information, and I am hoping they will sell to a small business owner like me.

Right now my starting funds look like they will be about 1k or a little more. I have not started the business but this is my estimate at this time. If things go like I hope (of which I am doing more research to make sure they will) it should be relatively easy to make up.

I just financed it with part of an inheritence I recieved. Some might say I was fortunate to recieve it, I am, but if I never recieved it I still would of found some way to accomplish what I wanted to do; it just speed things up a little.

The company when first started was similar to what it is now (the parent company of RAD Reality) over the last 3 years is has changed and matured though. Most of the startup costs had to do with hiring a programming company to create a website which is actually no longer in use. And the rest was used for legal fees, marketing costs, and working capital.

I'd definitely need to spend more to make it how I want.
