Starting Young

Hi

I'm 12 years old nearly 13 and I would like to set up a small business but I don't know what to do. If anyone has any ideas please give me a post.

Thanks

What do you like to do?

If you're looking for ideas, the best place to start is yourself. Decide what you have experience with, and then use that knowledge to find some way of making that better. That's your first business idea.

I think I was a little older than you when I started my first business, not that you should let that stop you, and my idea for it came from my hobby. I took something I enjoyed and did well, and figured out how I could use that skill to give other people something they want.

Feel free to bounce ideas around here and we'll see what we can come up with.

Well I do cycling and I like listening to music, but I cannot see how to make that into a business idea.

Do your friends like cycling as well? What do they seem to not like about their hobby? If you can find a way to make that better you're golden.

As far as music, have you ever considered dj'ing?

You say you like cycling, all bikes need tyres and all the other bits and pieces that wear out.Why dont you supply those bits by opening a free Amazon shop i would think you would have to get your parents to open a free amazon account and you set the shop up.

This is only a suggestion on what you have mentioned in post no 4.

My advice would be to talk to your parents before you come to a public forum and talk to total strangers. Talk to your parents. Get their advice first. I'm sure they'd like to know what you're doing, since you're under-aged.

Thats great that your starting so young. I'm 17 and I make money buy creating web sites that offer free content to visitors and then sell ads to other companies. You could apply that same teqnique to a web site about cycling. You don't need to actually sell anyting on the site as long as you can get a lot of traffic and are able to make money of selling ads to other cycling related companies. Just an idea but you may want to try somthing like that if you need an idea.
Good Luck,
Frank

Good. I'm happy to hear you talked to your parents first. A good first step would be to start a blog, and start blogging about things that interest you - things you're passionate about. The simplest way to get started with a blog is through Blogger.com.
