    Starting An LLC

What is the best way to form an LLC, through an attorney or on a website such as incorporate.com? Are there any critical disadvantages of forming an LLC online?

I don't see any reason to use an online service simply to file the documents, as they are very straightforward and simple.

I agree with jmenq2. When I was doing mine, we went to a lawyer because we knew her. The papers were extremely straight forward to the point that if we had the actual layout of the articles we could have done it ourselves.

I just downloaded the appropriate forms from my secretary of states website, filled them out, and faxed them to the corporations department. If you have any questions about what to put where, give them a call and ask. Don't waste your money on a website that is just going to do this for you. Total filing cost in Mississippi to do it yourself $50. Total filing cost to use some website $150-300. You decide.

You'll be better off if you do it yourself, because of the knowledge you will gain as a result. Plus you'll save a lot of mone; money that you can invest into your business elsewhere.

How you do you go about finding a registered agent? that's the part I don't get about an LLC.

You can hire one, which will not only act as your registered agent, but can keep you updated on changes in the law regarding requirements.

Or you could act as your own registered agent, which is what we've done. However, understand that acting as a registered agent means that you need to be available for service at all times at your registered address.

Yep. It all depends on the state. Arkansas is only $45 if done online ($50 by paper).
