So next year I'm heading to a very picturesque university town, and I was thinking of starting a tour business.

There is also the option of expanding to surrounding universities.

I have a few ideas about how to make the tours slightly unique, (one of my ideas is already being done in Oxford and Cambridge), as the town does offer free walking tours.

Any one done anything like this before? It would be a complete bootstrapping project, but with the advent of VoiP and virtual offices etc. I was thinking I could keep a lot of costs down that way.

I suppose I'd need to hire someone to take bookings when I'm not there, but would working from home be an option for this so I don't have to get offices etc.?

Any general advice or comments? What should my next steps be?
