Hi all. Ok, so about a month ago when I first joined, I tried to start a webstore. I thought it was going to do well. I had a vision and a plan. However, I never planned that the dropshipper I wanted to use (or any dropshipper) had these crazy rates that the customer had to pay. It effectively killed me before I got started well. Anyways, I have now simplified my ambitions to a much more focused place- art. I have always loved reading and so naturally I would go on to love comicbooks.
So basically it would be a publishing site with somewhat social network aspects, but its really about the creator. I have already found the most reliable webhost (Host Gator 7.95 /month) and they support unlimited diskpace, unlimited subdomains, and domains. The creator would retain all rights to their stories and creations, but we would ask if we could use samples for compilations and anthologies. We also do online marketing by creating custom materials specific to the creation. We also have street teams(mostly me and a couple college friends) that would put their creations on blogs, wear t-shirts, and generally make people care about other people's ideas. We would even do page hosting for creators to post up some images, or excerpts. We also would host webcomics...
Anyways, my new business is going to be a small, independent comicbook publishing company, however we would publish novels and light novels, cook books and etc. I have already written up a business plan and done up a logo. I draw and write my own comics so I too would be published under my own label.
We would get revenue by ad clicks such as google ads, and our own webstore where we market the creators works as well as the staff's on projects. I for one have my own things in the works.
We would publish on demand which is more expensive in single issue, but the more you order, the cheaper it becomes to print. My own comics would cost $4.50 to produce. The ISBN is included as well.
I have one huge problem though...I have no idea how to do the necessary website coding. I know how to use Dreamweaver and can make basic CSS templates, but the idea which I imagine and invision would be much too grand for just CSS and would NEED php. I have no experience or time to learn CSS. So I just wanted to know if there was anyone who understood and and could possibly offer some advice or tips or maybe just some affordable rates. Thank you in advance.
