Starting a new business - Trying to get the right information

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to find some good solid information after searching through the internet has left me not much closer to where I'd like to be.

My friend and I are trying to start a company that rents out gaming server space so people can play games with their friends, etc, (similar to gameservers.com). No physical products will be sold.

Our main question is, what kind of business do we need to form? It's just the two of us forming the company and we plan on splitting the profits equally when we do choose to pay ourselves and we will also be owners 50/50. We were planning on using a service like LegalZoom.com.

Can someone provide some clarification as to which type of business would be the best for our situation? Thanks, we really appreciate the help.

    Nick

P.S. Do we need a business license? We will be having a company bank account.

From the way you are talking it sounds like you want a partnership.

I would say it's limited risk, you're renting server space so no one can fall on them, yoru product can't accidentally harm someone, etc.

Due to this and what i'm assuming to be a relatively small operation (thousands not millions) I would agree with EHub and say partnership is the way to go. You can still have a bank account without inc.

You most likely have to register in yoru state. Licensing is a state by state, city by city deal. Call yoru local and state deparment of revenues... they can answer that. You should even be able to find it all online.
