I need a little information. I am starting a jeans line and was just wondering. Is it legal to buy already made jeans, personalize them and sell them as my own? Can I put my own lable on them?

FYI, it may take longer than 48 minutes to get a response from anyone on here. Please have some patience before letting the urge to repost the same thing in a different forum. But regardless, welcome to YE & I hope you find plenty of useful information here. I know there are a slew of others who have/are started or starting clothing lines on here. And we have some pretty good legal minds; so between all of them, I'd imagine you'll get a pretty thorough answer in time.

Alright, with certain items, you are allowed to personalize and put your own label on, i.e. T-shirts, sweatshirts. However with Jeans, I am going to say no. Jeans are very unique to the company with many different variables like dimensions, fades, "dirty" fade designs, stitching, and even holes and rips. Your best bet is to work out a deal with a smaller jean company and just ask them if you can relabel their jeans if you personalize them. You can probably find a company willing to do that. The other thing is to look for local seamstress's that can sew jeans together and start like that. You'd be surprised how low costing it can be.
