Hi Joe. This is a shameless plug but you might want to take a look at my "Start Your Own Computer Restoration Business" package on ebay. Everyone who has purchased it has been a satisfied customer and many of them were able to use my program to dominate their local computer service market. There are a few guys on this forum who purchased my package back in December who could probably give you some feedback on my program. Here is the link:

Good luck with your new business and if you have any quick questions about how to get started, feel free to send me a PM and I'll help you out as much as I can.

    Hey Joe,

I sent you a PM, check it! I might be able to help you get started.

Ryan, I noticed your suite of software does not include a Helpdesk Management package. You have a pretty neat starter package for the computer business, but some type of incident tracking tool is needed (ticket system). I think we may be able to help each other out. Are you interested in cross-marketing? Check out http://www.e-helpdesk.net .

PM me if you want to discuss some potential cross-marketing opportunities.

    Thanks!

    Hey Joe,

I was thinking about getting into the same type of business you are thinking about. However, my career changed paths and I eventually got into software developement. There were some barriers that I had run into, but looking back they were not a big deal. I had also come up with a marketing plan and how to capture local customers. Anyways, if you would like to discuss, I'd be more than happy to chat and see if I can be of any assistance to you.

    Hey Vince,

I have a big plan for this company, i dont want to be a mom-pop shop for repairs, i want to focuss more on small business and outsourcng, Im thinking big, i would like to start here and advertise like crazy, then spread throughout the state of NY. At some point i would like to take this company national. What do you think of this idea?

    Joe,

Thinking big is always a good idea. That ensures that even if you don't hit your big target, you'll at least be closer to big than if you were aiming small. Start off w/ local business, and I think that will keep you busy for a while. You'll be surprised at the fortune you can make by just doing business in your region.

The most important thing you need is a positive first impression. The first question in your prospects mind should not be "Can I trust him?". Rather, it should be "What forms of payment does he accept?".

I really think that E-Helpdesk can instill this positive first impression in your customers. It gives people the impression that you are a big company.

We recently setup an E-Helpdesk account for two brothers in the IT consulting field. You can check out their demo account here:

    http://demo.e-helpdesk.net/ntconnections

What we did for them was
    1) Offer them a professional looking website. This is one of their most important marketing tools. Customers are directed to their website to read more about them. This is what I mean about the positive "First Impression". People want to see that you at least have a web presence.

    2) Offer their client's a way to contact them to request support. Notice the Login box at the right. This is the same type of online ticketing system used by big corporations, except it can be run for a fraction of the cost. This type of functionality allows the "mom & pop" shop to look more like a Fortune 500 company.

    3) Offer them an efficient way to run their company by using technology. If you are starting out as a one-man operation, you'll need a way to complete as many jobs with as few resources. As the saying goes "Time is money". You can't rely on pen & paper if you want to achieve your goal of going Nationwide.

My biggest barrier when I tried to start an IT services company was being able to compete locally w/ so many other established businesses. Just open up your Yellow Pages and look under Computer Services. That is why I built E-Helpdesk to give me a competitive advantage. I decided to use E-Helpdesk to assist professionals like you, rather than use it for myself.

If you want to chat more, feel free to PM me your phone number and a good time to call. I'd like to give you a free account to help you get started if you are interested.

    Joe,

E-Helpdesk is completely hosted, which means it runs on a website. If you don't already have a website, one is included in the package. You will get the following 5 pages for free:

    1) Homepage
    2) About Us
    3) Services
    4) FAQ
    5) Contact Us. (this is a fully functional contact page that allows people to contact you through your website)

The pages can be updated w/out any knowledge of HTML. If you know how to use Microsoft Word, then you will be very familiar with how to create content.

To illustrate, I created an account for you under the fictitious name "Joe's Computer Services Inc." You can check it out here:

    http://demo.e-helpdesk.net/joew

The text in each box gives you instructions on how to start building your website. Once you login, all the E-Helpdesk features are available. This is a very basic website, and you can see how customizable it is by checking out this one:

    http://demo.e-helpdesk.net/ntconnections

If you already have your own website and content, you can simply link to the E-Helpdesk features.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Joe,

All you need to do is point your domain name to our server's IP address. As far as creating the website, you can just login and play around with the WYSIWYG tools to get started. (WYSIWYG = what you see is what you get) If you need further customization, I can help you with that as well.

If you like, we can discuss over the phone or by email to get the ball rolling. Feel free to PM me your number and a good time to call, or you can reach me at the contact info in my signature. Both emails listed below are excellent ways of contacting me.
