    Question Staggered Approach?

As some of you may have read, I recently got funding to start a food delivery service in my hometown. We have had some ups and downs already pre-launch because of different dealings with other people (Who would have thought adults could be so childlike, eh?). We decided to go ahead and start without our space finished and without a FULL staff. We decided to not officially open, but build up our clientele.

So we went up to all the local schools (for the teachers) and explained our services to them and the principles (who we had to get permission from to do it anyway) and also went to some local law firms and did the same. We really want it set that we pick up the orders from the bigger accounts on a set basis (so we will pickup the orders from the schools between 9 - 10am). We essentially want to set up the bigger constant accounts on a day to day schedule so they won't tie up the lines when the rest of the city calls... Is there something about this process that I'm missing that I could do to make it work better off in the end?

We have gone through all of the schools in the city except for the biggest on being the University (because we have a nice and pricey vendors license), which we are planning for because we want to open up the University with the General public since they will play a huge part in our business.

    What do you guys think?

Based on my limited knowledge of your business, what you really need to focus on to succeed is maximizing the efficiency of your operations and supply chain. If you have more specific questions or would provide more information, I could attempt to provide you guidance.

If you haven't already, I highly suggest you do a lot of reading and research on similiar companies and especially learn from studying all the things that Webvan did wrong that caused one of the most highly anticipated dot com companies to go completely bust.

Gaulkin - It hasn't been an overwhelming response because this really just kinda came up on the schools without a real warning beforehand, and for that I regret, but I have to move forward from that.

J - Thanks for the suggestion. I really can't provide a more specific question except out of pure speculation. Maybe in the next week or so when things start to pick up, because as of right now, there really isn't much to make more efficient in terms of on the client side, it's things in house that I'm setting straight right now. But I will take you suggestion and read up on similar companies, which I needed to do from the start, but I got away from it from being so caught up, but thanks for the great suggestion.
