    Speak English!!!!

    Hey all!!!!

Teddy here! Basically I've an idea with plenty of potential..... but.... and the problem being that "But", I don't have a clue how to go about it.

I'm a certified TEFL teacher having taught in India and Kenya. Recently I became the Bar supervisor at a four star hotel, but noted very early on that all my staff were foreign nationals with very poor English. Not good considering the place is oft a time flooded with impetulant golfers who couldn't care less if the waiter/waitress has understood them or not.

The plan: Create a software package that will ameliorate the situation and make speaking english a dawdle to these non-nationals in the work place and socially.

The problem: computing isn't my strongpoint.

    The solution:?

    Hope you can help!

OK, offer the hotel a training program, run by you. You'll run an English course in hospitality for a fee. The staff will learn English and everybody's happy.

I agree. A software is good but it is better if you have classes, too. It's fun if they learn English together.

    just speaking,
it needn't be good at English very much, some oral English is enough,i think .
just teach them everyday oral language and speak more, they will gain from it.

Having taught English in China, schumi, your advice is typically lacking in focus... no offense. I was told a million times "Just teach them oral English." That's all well and good but there's so much more to it than that. We are not magicians who just sprinkle some native speaker magic dust and presto, instant fluency, despite what millions of Chinese may think.

Since you're in the hospitality industry, you need to concentrate on the language commonly used in your field. Start with situations, such as taking reservations, dealing with complaints, and so on. Build their vocabulary and have them practice, over and over again. Remember that they need to be thrown a curve ball once in a while, just like in real life. It'll help them.

There's your mission - design a course like that.
