SPAM coming into this Forum like CRAZY!!

Hello,

Ok, so who has noticed a lot of SPAM coming into this forum like crazy.

The members of this forum do a great job of calling out the SCAM before people buy into it, however, when I joined not that long ago, maybe two months, I rarly saw SPAM.

What happened?

Sign of popularity - forum spammers traditionally target higher PR forums, but I've noticed recently some dedicated forum spamming strategies, especially in terms of targeting *any* forum related to business/webmaster/technology issues.

I'm a newbie, so I hope I don't get accused of spamming. :-)

I've been looking around for a business type forum for a few days now and I've gone onto one or two that have completely died a death due to the amount of spam. I feel sorry for some of the moderators having to keep up with it all. Other forums have died too because some of the regular contributors get fed up of reading unmoderated spam.

Because of the nature of my new business I do blog entries mentioning Mortgages and Loans and, considering my website is fairly new, they attract an extraordinary amount of Spam. Every morning I have around 20 spam comments to moderate and it's growing.

Let's just hope this forum remains the useful resource it looks it is

it's not that hard, just have people that attend the forum often and give them rights to delete spam in certain forums, you have a few super moderators that can mod the whole board then a dozen or so mod's that can patrol their specific forum.

(thats what i do anyway)

We are working on creating a very strict SPAM policy. If anyone has compiled a complete list, please PM me as we would like to have a very thorough policy. We are also adding a couple new MODS to help decrease the spammers!
