    Someone please prove me wrong.

its 3 am and I can't sleep for crap. I can't stop thinking about my future and that led me back to this website, and as im trying to explore this website and message board as a resource (for the nth time), I really just have to make this post.

I just can't for the life of me find any real substance on these boards. the title of the website is young entrepreneur, I see plenty of youth (such as myself), but no entrepreneurship. instead the main focus seems to be attempting to generate clicks on google adsense on peoples "get rich quick" blog. the ratio of entrepreneur's on this website appears to be 1:100. Creating a 5 minute website for mesothelioma and then placing a link in your signature so that people will click on it to help buffer your click thru ratio is hardly entrepreneurship. instead of entrepreneurship all I see are attempts to make as much money with no necessary work.

I've come to understand that entrepreneurship is quite the opposite, involving, more than anything, as much work as it takes to be successful. entrepreneurship involves groundbreaking ideas, not old internet schemes of MLM, e-advertising, e-scamming, and things of that nature.

is there anyone else around here who is actually interested in taking progressive ideas and willing to expend the time, energy, and risk required to form these ideas into solutions? If not, thats fine, but please just prove to me that I'm wrong and that these forums do actually serve a purpose in their current state. I'm by no means attempting to insult or offend any members here, but I feel like i may be in the wrong place considering my goals and what exists here.

entrepreneur - a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, esp. a business. (according to dictionary.com)

I think almost everyone on here meets that definition. What you are looking for is an innovative entrepreneur, which as you stated, is much more difficult to come by.

That being said, I have several innovative ideas, but if I share them on this forum someone may beat me to the punch.

To me this forum serves as a way to get advice on things (e.g. legal, website design, best way to do something, etc) and I think it serves that purpose.

kirkland, if you have a specific idea in mind and need some advice about some aspect about it, then ask, and hopefully someone on here, who has had that same type of experience, will offer some advice that will be helpful to you.
    Sincerely,

So if the one in a hundred does exist, would it be worth wading through the other 99 to find that one person who could help you make a few hundred extra dollars to fund your lifestyle?

All it would take for me is one good idea that I could pick up and run with.

Look at this board from a business perspective: What were you hoping to get out of it?!

When I first thought about starting a business, I searched the internet high and low for a web board of internet entrepreneurs (not adsense and affiliate marketing, but bonafide organizations)...and quickly realized that my attempts were dumb. The truth is - folks who are really about starting businesses and are beyond the basic "How do I start?", "How do I write a business plan", "Where do I get capital", "I need a web designer questions" aren't floating around a message board or web forum looking to build a network because they're beyond that stage.

This is going to sound soooo cliche because my partner and I are in the same boat, but the best way to go about networking and interacting with entrepreneurs (serious ones) is to GO DO. Guess what? The people who are on this board trying to make connections are generally all in the same boat - wrestling with some ideas they're not sure they want to pursuit, trying to find a cheaper a way to pursuit their dreams, and folks disgruntled with their jobs who want to start a business.

THAT being said, the board also ads value. Food for thought. Question and answers. Learn from others experiences. And there are some resources on here who are quite useful.

Use it for what its worth.

But really - take a step back and try and figure out what you were expecting. And then ask yourself - if you were _____ (what you're looking for) would YOU be sitting around on a message board "trying to make entrepreneur friends"?

Totally interested in making an idea a viable business.

Totally interested in investing my time effort and money into this idea (along with my partner).

Totally NOT interested in looking for interested parties via the internet.

I think the biggest problem that this board has is that there are too many people who call themselves "entrepreneurs" because they have the spirit that is required to take an idea from concept to reality...but have NO IDEAS.

    :sigh:

    You sell yourself short.

I witnessed an idea from you just now! Posting three times in a row is a great way to make sure your signature gets more exposure, I mean who wants to edit a post if you can do that?

I call myself an entrepreneurs because I run my own business form home and have enough ideas that it nicely supplements my retirement income and allows me to travel and enjoy life.

I posted something similar a few days ago. I am starting to realize that we need to take these communities for what they are worth. Secondly, realize (as I am starting to) that the internet is not a quick fix on the road to entrepreneurship. It still is long and hard.

I come to this site to vent, nothing more nothing less. At the end of the day, you have to find a forum that targets your specific market/business model ect. and network there. If you're trying to be a car dealer, then try to find a forum for car dealers. It really makes no sense to study what the next man or woman does. Do you. plain & simple

this place is here to help you bounce ideas

    nothing more, nothing less

post your ideas and receive unbiased (i.e. not from friends) feedback

that's what the boards are for, and what their competitive advantage is

in the real world, you won't get the kinds of feedback that you can get here

and online, you can't do the kinds of deals (i.e. partnerships) that you can offline

    everything has a purpose

Entrepreneurship doest have to involve ground breaking idea..and you really have no idea of what businesses people have.

Sure i agree with you on the internet thing, with adsense and what ever, but the internet is an outlet that has an infinate amount of oppertunities to be exploited. You seem to not believe that money can be made from the internet, but there are hundreds of people who have made a fortune on the internet.

I have started a few businesses, not all have been succesful, but all bar one of them has been an offline business.
This website is a useful resource for feedback and infomation, as Akula has said.

IF you want to do something than do it, but be prepared. I finally took my first leap into starting my own business less than a year ago and I am happy as hell now that I did it. I use to be a Dreamer in denial I thought of myself as an entrepreneur for my whole life but I wasn't. I would be happy to share with you what I do know and what I did to start my own business. In fact we are looking for people who are interested in doing something instead dreaming about something. I hate saying what I can offer is Free because people here it all the time. But I am not selling a program or a course or a book. Read my thread Our industry is looking for Empties Brokers.

This forum isn't a place for information, it's just a place to socialize and plug your websites. What do you expect...for free?
