Some more quick cash made :)

So I had a guy out to give me a quote on getting my back-lit signs re-done. The quote he gave me was about 3500$. I got some other quotes and they went up to 5000$. The guy that just started renting the building next to me got a quote of 3000$ for his signs. I decided that instead of paying this, I'd go ahead and buy the equipment to do it myself. I ordered everything I needed for bout 900$CAD. I told the guy next to our building that I'd do his for 1500$. He's basically paying for all my supplies and the printer, with an extra 600$. Fuckin eh.

All that is going on my borrowing account. It's 3% a year. I'm keeping the whole building to myself, just running different things out of it.

    Here's a similar example..

I needed to get some web hosting space for some web ideas that I have. I pitch to clients about hosting their websites for them. Now my web hosting service revenue outweights the actual cost. So I get a hefty sum every year with alot more web space for me to create websites of my own.

maybe...and probably only in this instance..not a good business philosophy

thats only if his TIME is not worth as much someone elses.

He still needs to maintain the equipment

still needs to learn to do a "professional" job...I can give you a paintbrush, but doesnt mean you can make the mona lisa

still needs to house the equipment/supplies

and lastly...has to stop doing his primary business while making "signs" for himiself and his neighbor to save a few bucks

I would have talked someone into doing it for 2k and been done with it.

an hour I spend growing my business is worth much more than me running a sign machine

will he become his own web host, web designer, printer, ISP, cellular provider...its ALWAYS GOOD TO LEVERAGE...but not so much to bring everything in house

trading your time for money is called "a job"

    WhoYoDaddy

It's a secondary source of income next to my gaming center. I don't have to give up much of my time because I'm just sitting on my ass at the gaming center anyways.

if your sitting on your ass....it should only because there is absolutely nothing else to do...which unless you are just an employee of the center...can NOT be the case

You should be coming up with and implementing new ways to get NEW customers...get MORE MONEY from existing customers...and getting them to refer to you....publicity, marketing, loyalty programs...etc

I have a sneaky suspiscion this is not "your" business but a parent/friend/relatives...I can not imagine any RETAIL business owner sitting around doing nothing, and being fine with it.

It is in fact my business. Therefore I get to do whatever I want, whenever I want. That's the joy of it. If I want to sit on my ass, I'll do it.
