    Snakeskin and crocodile skin

Hello! Does anyone know if selling snakeskin and crocodile skin products, such as belts, etc, is illegal in Texas? I was told that when you purchase the item they give you a permit to bring into the states, but can you sell them? Does anyone know of a website that might help me in this? Thank you for your time.

Start calling local government agencys... but honestly i'm not sure where to start on this one.

Maybe department of revenue, parks and wildlife, department of commerce... i would start calling, explain your situation and see where they transfer you if you don't ahve any other ideas.

If you're importing or exporting certain snake skins and pretty much all crocodile skins, you will need CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) permits. Lots of animals and their by products are protected under CITES rules and when you're bringing them across international lines, you need their blessing. Their website is CITES DOT org (wont let me post links).

No problemo. I used to import/export reptiles for the pet trade so I have experience with this stuff.

You may also want to check out some Alligator farms in Florida and see what they can sell you. Since the Alligators are already bred in the US you wouldn't need CITES permits to sell them in the states. If there are other restrictions, the farmers should be able to inform you of what they are.
