Sliding Scale Commission

If anyone in sales has ever been paid this way, please let me hear your experiences with it. Is it worth it on low ticket items, like stuff that sells between $100-500? How exactly does it work and what is a good starting percent? I just want to hear some overall experience of what you had in the sales field as well.

I have been selling commission all my life and to be honest it has never come up. There has always been a increase in % after a certain benchmark as a bonus but not sliding scale. I don't know how happy I would be with a sliding scale either.
