Site Review: TweetClubb - Twitter for Business

I'm working on a new project, as some of you may have noticed in my signature and other posts, lol.

I put a bit of work into the layout of the site, but kept it simple to keep up with the 'Twitter' theme.

The site is currently still in Beta, although I already have people signing up for the program. I'm bringing in some Twitter experts to help with the coaching, and will be setting up an affiliate program to help people interested in generating some affiliate income (20% commission).

My writing style is a bit different than most coaches out there. I'm not a blogger, and putting things down onto paper isn't my specialty. I prefer talking to people, communicating, and figuring out their needs from there. I don't really like generalizing all aspects of business and reasons people might read my material, and expect it to fit everyone. Hence, the reason that I'm doing the program this way - if someone wants to learn about using Twitter for their business, either I or one of the other members of the team will talk/chat with them, learn about their business/interests/goals/etc, and will help them build a plan that is custom-fit to their business.

This site's been up a bit less than a week, but traffic has been doubling every other day. I haven't put much effort into SEO, and will be taking care of that sometime later in the week.

If you don't mind, let me know what you think. I'd prefer constructive criticism rather than "YOUR SITE SUCKS!", but if that's all you've got, let it rip!

The text is a little overwhealming. I would try to break it up with a few images and get the width of the paragraphs down a bit. It's been said that a paragraph shouldn't be wider than 80 characters. I wouldd also add some padding on either side of the test (maybe 20px total).

For the white nav bar up top, line it up with the left side of the green box below. For the twitter look and feel, round all of your corners (easily done with jQuery).

Finally, I think you need a new logo, the current one isn't the same style as the rest of the site. you should be able to get a nice logo for a few hundred dollars.

    Good luck!

One other thing, try a different font treatment for the Titles, perhaps a serif font like Georgia, and a brighter color (green maybe)

    It's a great start.

i got confused for a moment, i thought i am in your twitter page.

i would add something that will tell the user that it's not twitter - bold your heading or something

Justy- thanks for the link - very informative article. I disagree with a bit with the 80px length of text- many of the bigger sites that I use run their text most of the way across the screen, and it doesn't seem to deter readers. I'll try changing it to see how it looks, and if it affects retention any. Your tip on adding padding is a great one, though - that's something that I didn't catch until now.

As far as changing titles and the text, I'll have to dig down into the CSS of the Template to figure that one out. I haven't done too much with Wordpress, and am still learning the backend in terms of editing the appearance.

Shlomi- Thanks for your feedback as well! To be honest, I love the love the way the template looks. I prefer having it look more like Twitter, because my site is what gives many of my clients the first taste of what Twitter is all about. As an example, one of them is a professional contractor that has never used the internet for marketing (other than Craigslist). I walked him through the entire process of building a Twitter account, adding relevant information, etc over the phone while helping him understand the concept. After I got done, he was very proud of himself, and is now happily Tweeting his way to expanding his company's customer base in his region.

I'm primarily focusing on getting content on the site at the moment. I'm planning on bringing in a couple of additional content providers, and if I can see the diff. one can make on the look of the site, a designer. This site isn't supposed to be incredibly flashy and visually tantalizing. It is strictly a source of information. If the designers out there have a vision for how it can look better, though, feel free to send me a sample of how you envision it looking. If I like it, I'll be more than happy to hire you to take care of the design portion of the project.
