silly website question

ok this might seem silly or stupid to some, but i really need help with this one.

im trying to make pop ups on my site, not the annoyin ones but used to show a enlarged view of a picture when people click on it.
on each page i have 3 different picture that need this function.
however, my current website developer keep telling me that it doest work because the code only allow 1 pop up per page.

now im sure thats not ture cause iv see site that have multiple pop ups.

I have no experiance in building a site at all and my developer is being a lazy bum and saying it wont work. so im quite stumped here.

does anyone know the code for mulitple pop ups ? or know where i can find it?
so i can give that to the lazy bum developer and tell him to do it?

Are you sure you are working with a professional? I might seem rude but any profeesional will never ever say "Its Impossible"! Especially web developers who work their ass off .... I think you should check out Dynamicdrives.com. It might help you.
