    shipping questions

    I
recently started a skateboarding venture, and have had a few questions about shipping. First off what company do you guys/gals feel offers the fairest rates? I am aware that the post office has started a flat rate box service, but will a skateboard fit in any of those boxes? Also say i was having a special two boards for 53 dollars would i be able to ship them together cheaply?

    thanks,
    Grant

    Where are you from?

In The UK courier works out cheaper for items like that. 8 pound next day door to door.
You would have to bulk buy packaging. look online for the boxes. It'll be cheaper than the post office.

UPS and USPS are the cheapest. However, FedEx takes better care of its packages. If you have something fragile, I'd go with FedEx.

When I ran a business selling textiles, I shipped all over the world. Rest assured, for the size of a skateboard, the only cost-effective method to ship your boards domestically is UPS. If you want to ship internationally, USPS and UPS have *very* different rates depending on destination.

If you want to ship something smaller than an entire board (are they still called "decks"?) then USPS has a lower minimum price - but only for small items. Good luck!

USPS is never cheap unless it's a tiny letter size type package. For big items they are a HUGE ripoff compare to UPS and FedEx. That said, FedEX and UPS centers generally have much cheaper rates than FedEx and UPS locations/stores. If you can find an actual center, the rates are much more favorable for large and heavy packages. I would double on FedEx being better with fragile packages. Given that you are shipping skateboards, I would compare the rates at both of these at least once to measure how much the cost is. Again, find a center, they're better for shipping rates generally speaking.

I have found out when shipping items to Australia, US Virgin Islands, and Hawaii that UPS was generally about twice as expensive of USPS.

Just a first hand experience I thought to share.

    We're talking about boxes that weigh about 10lbs and less than 18 x 18 x 18.
