I'm researching a liquor importing business and trying to figure out the best way to physically move cases of alcohol that are not yet sold in the States from eastern Europe to New York.

One way that seems somewhat simple is to buy it all in London (where it is available but more expensive than if I bought it in the country where it was made), rent cargo space, and send it over. If you have any experience with how this works, that would be helpful. If you have any ideas on how to bypass London, that would be even better.

Perhaps there is some kind of bulk rate shipping program with UPS or FedEx or something? I know their typical international rates would price us out of the market, but maybe if we were sending 1,000 lbs. at once the rate would come down enough to make it work?
