That's pretty close to what I was going to say, akula. The baby boomers are hitting retirement age, so I understand why you want to cater to the seniors. If you really want to cash in, don't start you own business, but go to pharmacy school. They can make six figures right out of school, and believe me, they will be in demand for the next 50 years or so. Or you could try to start an Osco (or equivalent) franchise, but that can be pretty expensive.

Maybe get into orthopedic shoes Seriously.

Here you go: visit your grandparents and see what they need or use regularly. Then go from there...

    Good luck!

A friend of mine had the idea to provide a service to nursing homes whereby you'd install quickcams so family can see their loved ones from a website whenever they wish.

I'm not sure what the snag was, might've been that the nursing homes didn't want to do it, but it might also have just been laziness.

Seemed like a neat idea at the time.

The snag was probably that no one wants to see their mom or dad laying in a bed or sitting in a chair all day long.

Life in a nursing home really isn't all that great. Think about it, bingo Thursdays is usually the highlight if the week!

I think that the primary upside of the system was that you could check and make sure the nursing home was properly doing their job.

i.e. not being abusive or neglectful.

Right, that is a good idea. Nursing homes probably don't want the added liability, though. It could be profitable if the nursing homes were somehow required to add the cameras, but I can't see them doing it voluntarily.

I think the trick would be to prospect for and contact individuals who have loved ones in nursing homes and try to build a demand that way.

Ideally, you'd create a situation wherein any nursing home who DIDN'T use the system would look like they had something to hide.

You'd have to build a brand name with credibility to make it all work though, otherwise there'd be nothing to stop the nursing homes from installing their own hardware and broadcasting it on their own websites.
