Where can I find secondry data? I'm looking at trying to identify a gap in the UK market. Does anyone know of any websites?

    Thanks

You could try librarys, census, trade publications or info made public by other resarch, dont know much bout the uk market but you might be able to find some info.

Maybe you could write a bit about what market it is you are looking into and that might help someone here.

yeah thats my problem, ive just left school and my dream is to be an entrepeuner. However I have no idea what industry I want to start a business in yet though. I wanted to try to look at some market data to see where there is a gap in the market. I'm currently in the summer holidays and going to uni in september so would like to start a small business during the summer, one in a niche market.

Are there any online sites that show market data?

    Thanks

You will get nowhere asking for "market data". This is way too broad of a request. What are you talking about wanting to see?

Is there a company that officially calculates the market share for each company? Or is it something that each business calculates themselves and has to publish with thier accounts. Also talking of accounts, where are they published to?

if you want to have a general demographic report, consumers' trends, trade reports, you can easily got them from specific trade organisation, government statistical agencies..

for more market & business focused reports, you míght need to pay say from a few hundred as much as a few thousands, depending on the nature of the reports..

To sidetrack, instead of focusing on what's the missing in the market environment, maybe you can consider looking at your own interests, your own skills & talents to kickstart..
from there, you can list down the things you enjoy doing, & things you are good at doing..
then you check if there is a market ready to pay you enough $$$ for that..

    just a suggestion..

Thanks a lot! Do any names come to mind of the type of companies you have suggested above?
