8.25% There was also a form that I signed and had to pay $10 dollars for called a use tax (or something like that).

Okay, this is important, so let's do it the right way.

Simply contact your state's Department of Revenue and they will provide you with all the information you need.

Well, I know how to calculate it, I just need to know IF I need to charge it at all and if I do how do I file it with the state and the more I think about it the more it pisses me off that the gvn't takes a tax of the sale and then another tax off of my profits! And then they give it to lazy sacks on welfare....

And also, would I charge sales tax for people paying me to list their company on my site (I'm not talking about click through ads, I'm talking about them paying me a monthly fee to list on my site)?

Everything depends on your state and location where you are operating from. You will likely need a state tax ID number. Go to your state's dept of revenue website as I'm sure they have good information posted on what to do. Most states now allow you to file your sales tax online pretty easily. Illinois for instance has an online gateway where on a monthly basis you fill out their form listing your revenue in different areas. Also beware of any county or city taxes you are responsible for. For instace, the city of Chicago and Cook county have their own sales tax. Basically, I fill out the online forms, pay it all to the state, and then the state sends the appropriate amount to the city and county.
