Running a Business, where to get help?

    Hi there,

Was just wondering, where could I get help (or coaching) in running an Australian registered business? I turn 18 at the end of the year and will then most likely make one in my name.

As I am not taking business at university any more (going for property development), it would be great to learn what my obligations are with a registered business. That being; exactly what I have to document and keep record of, what taxes (import tax, income tax etc) and rates I will have to pay, how to calculate them, and when to do this and so on... Basically the things I have to do so that I dont break the law.

Im off to China on a contact-finding/holiday trip with a mate in Jan/Feb '08 and may bring back a container of products and then keep it flowing from there. I have dealt with Chinese imports a little but only some small-scale dropshipping etc.

Is there anywhere/anyone that would, I guess tutor this sort of own-business-rules knowledge to people? I know the government has some details on their site but it really doesnt make you understand much (or maybe im not reading properly?)

Sorry about the essay but very keen to find out this info!

    Thanks

yeah mate...you're asking administrative questions, so it's best for you to find your local BEC and go to one of their seminars on tax, incorporation, importing etc etc

Usually you'll get information about seminars on taxes like akula mentioned. You can also get an accountant to do it.
Your blog is not a business.

^^ If I was to get an accountant, they ask quite hefty prices dont they? Saying I sold 100 basic items which were imported per week, they shouldnt need to work for too many hours right?

Oh right, and does it tell you everything you have to do? (your obligations?)
