    Rgearding this idea:

    Hey guys

In my city there's a bit of talk going on about who will be the captain of St Kilda football club!

There's a guy I want for the job and that's Lenny Hayes.

I'm thinking of making a site called

makelennycaptain.com or something like that and have a petition.

Then I will email all the media outlets, and go to all the AFL (Australian Football League) forums etc and post it up.

Now, while I think Lenny should be captain I'm not going to do it for charity

What sort of advertising should I put up? How should I monetise it? I've lost my affection for Google Adsense now people have dropped their bids for content so massively.

I was thinking of getting some sort of affiliate programming and linking to them and saying 'this site made possible thanks to our sponsor' or 'support our sponsor'

    or something like that?

    sounds fun

let me pitch you another idea

the problem: st kilda football club needs to sell more tickets, but this might be a problem because generations X and Y have a lot more choice than baby boomers as to how to spend their time

unless st kilda implements initiatives to capture the younger audience, they might face a serious problem with brand recognition within 5-10 years

the solution: implement a social networking platform for st kilda football club, where fans can interact with players, fans, and where the club can sell tickets and other merchandise to people registered on the site.

the most important benefit is that this product makes st kilda more accessible than other clubs. young people, who are new to the sport, will be able to register, browse the profiles of other fans and feel that they have lots in common to other people who come to the games.

    what do you think?

It sounds interesting but I'm not really that familiar with the premise of social networking.

What would inspire someone to become part of this in addition to MySpace?
