Pretty broad question without knowing your specifics. So here's your broad answer- $100-$1,000,000.
what kind of specifics do you want?
well, lets see... The size of store im hoping to get is 2000-2500 sq ft, the brands that im going to be selling are 7 for all man kind, nudie jeans, diezel, energie, corpus, cheap monday, obey, fenchurch, bench and a few more. Im actually just looking for inventory startup costs if anyone has any experience in that. I alwredy have an idea for leasehold costs.
Hi,
The initial costs of starting a retail store are dependent on the variables. The cost of a store depends on your location around a specific country, where abouts are you from anyway ? US, UK ?
Thanks![]()
Im from Alberta, Canada.
This question is so hard to answer because it all depends on how much product you want to carry and what your markup will be. I am building my store now, which is to be completed January of 2008. I am a skateboard and clothing shop. Im not only carrying skateboarding brands, but also our own clothing line. This particular store wil be 1500 sq feet. Depending on the layout of the store and what your lease costs will be, that will be a big factor in start up costs. Because You need to figure out how much inventory you need to fill your store. Like the above posters stated, it really all depends. There isnt a set amount. If your going to carry high priced clothign as you mentiond above, your probably looking at pretty significant start up costs....Plus depending on the design of your store you will need to figure out costs of the store layout....for example, lighting, dressing room buildouts, counters, etc
Cool thanks for your input. So if you dont mind me asking what are you looking to spend just on inventory for your store? Im kind of thinking that about 150,000 will be enough for mine
Go to BizStats.com shows you all the industries just type in the annual gross income and it breaks it down
I have to point out the rule of thumb because no one else has. Do your best to estimate how much it will cost to start, then multiply by at least three, and that's the real number. And while you're at it make a time line for yourself on when things will get done (sign lease, get inventory, etc.) and multiply that by three as well. Most new entrepreneurs forget (or just don't know) that the rest of the world does not work as quickly as they do. There are inevitably going to be hang-ups and unexpected costs. Make sure you're prepared
Does anyone have actually experience in starting a retail buisiness besides bzboy? Im not trying to be rude, just wondering
Anyone? Even a manager position would help
