What makes it a scam? People need legal services, but most do not have affordable access to the justice system. People need to protect their identity, but most people do not know how to do it. Pre-Paid Legal provides people with these services with little competiton. Identity theft is on the cover of nearly every news publication and financial magazine, so as an entrepreneur how can you not see an opportunity in offering these services. Even the Identity Theft Resource Center
suggests that you get a lawyer (if you follow the link above it's #15 on the list) to help restore your identity when dealing with non-cooperative companies and agencies. Also according to the ITRC, there are four types of ID theft crimes, so it's not a just matter of credit. This article is from the NY Times and provides much more insight on how huge this problem is and illustrates just how big of an opportunity this is for entrepreneurs (you may have to register before you can read the article).

What protection do you have against ID theft? What lawyers do you have access to in all 50 states and Canada? What lawyer(s) do you know of that are experts in all areas of law?
