    Reseller hosting, worth looking into?

It appears to be cheaper than I had initially thought to buy reseller hosting.

Do you think there is a market for those people who seek a better alternative to (often) horrible free hosting, but can't afford a typical hosting package? I was thinking to launch, offer $1 or $2 a month packages that would simply help me break even.

I am thinking with a very memorable and short domain, (already have one available selected, just haven't purchased it yet. Impressed it was available.), competitive pricing (in turn, maybe limiting storage and bandwidth. A personal blog doesn't require 10gb a month storage and 20gb bandwidth or anything. There would be ads on main site, although of course none would be required on user's sites.

So, is this a path worth walking down? What resources should I look into before doing this?

For the price of a reseller package, it's worth a flutter.

Even if it's just for 2-3 months, to test the water.

There will always be a demand for web hosting, even in such a saturated market.

I see. I've been doing some research over at webhostingtalk and I've crunched some numbers.

While selling web-hosting alone won't sustain me, it would easily pay for its self and pay for my weekends out. I think that combined with my other projects possibly could, at least down the road sometime.

The most expensive hosting package I offer is $39.99 per year and I still turn a profit.

Your website doesn't work and has only been around since February 20th (WHOIS lookup), did you host under a different name?

Yes, we was under a different name, but kept the same plans, pricing etc.

The new website is still being developed.

    Who is your reseller?

I am looking at magmahost as a cheap option, but have read mixed reviews. Some great, some not so great. But I feel like it would be worth it to start cheap, so I can offer cheap hosting too.

500mb personal space -$2 a month. Perfect for all these people who want blogs and personal sites.

Hypothetically, I could resell 200, 500mb plans which could be $400. Although I would only have to have 8 clients to break even.

Of course, there would probably be other packages to suit other clients but this looks like something I may sink my teeth into. I guess when I get my tax return I may go ahead and buy a years worth of reseller hosting.
