    Reputation attack

have anyone been in the situation where you do a transaction with some one and they clain there been scammed and want full refund, than if you refuse they being bad mouth you and all that. MY question what can businesses real do to combat this? even with full proof that no scam was involved yet the damage to reputation can cost alot more in the long run, and can even cause you business to fail especially in the begging. This has recently happended to me where i was what i would call being blackmailed.
    any thoughts?

alot of writters get some stupid kid posting a bad review on amazon about their book....how the combat this is by having 3 more good reviews placed right after the bad one.

Thats about all I can say on that subject....it is a scary one

    Muppet,

Its a precarious situation, and inevitably happens to everyone. The best response is to be completely up front with any and all information regarding the transaction or situation.

There's little a business can do other than brush it off and move forward. Mprye I think is on the right track as well. Ask EVERYONE you do business with to review your product or service (good or bad).

Just wait until you get your first lawsuit!

The thing is, the likelihood of someone going on a personal attack against you and bad-mouthing your business over nothing is very small.

You would have had to upset that customer in some way or another (both related to business and outside of business).

If you run an ecommerce store, collect testimonials from customers. It will boost your business reputation and reliability and if you feel comfortable enough in allowing both good and bad testimonials on your site somewhere... then potential customers can see that (hopefully) a large majority of your customers were very happy with the service.

    cheers
