Remote Parking Shuttle Service 4 Campus

This idea can be applied to any place with serious parking issues (I think it could work well on my campus):

My university if located in a city. In fact, it is a city, the buildings hold the classes. Parking is $1/hour in most places. If you want to park somewhere before class you have to arrive at around 9:00am when there are still a few spaces, get lucky and find a spot, park where the max is only 1 hour, or pay $3/hour in the garage. Needless to say, it sucks if you're a commuter. Just 5 minutes from campus there is loads of parking. If there were a shuttle service which came every 10 minutes to this location, I'm pretty sure loads of students and faculty would sign up. Here's an example of one in Thomas Jefferson:

Thomas Jefferson University - Commuter Services Office

One of the issues would be how exactly the university/college would respond to a privately owned shuttle service because I've noticed that a lot of univeristies/colleges have free-school sponsored shuttles.

The university wouldn't mind. They aren't doing it to make money and aren't competing against you. I guess your Univ. doesn't have one already though.

The only real problem I can foresee is the central parking where you pick everyone up. Would you need to own this lot? If you are using someone else's lot, how will they respond to a bunch of students using up all their parking?

There is tons of free parking near a public park which is 3 minutes from campus. I know that some people park there and then use their bike which was in their car.

Yes, my university has a shuttle service but only within campus.
