Well...I figured it was only a matter of time before someone copied Sarmonkey17 idea of PennyDrinks.com. He posted it all over public forums before he was ready.

And I really don't blame you. It is a good idea and Sarmonkey is going too slow with his site redesign. But you can easily tell that you took a look at his site and thatdrinksite.com for all of the wording. The design is way better then pennydrinks.com which will attract more sign ups. I told Sarmonkey from the start he needed someone on his team who knew how to program/maintain a site. Glad to see you are doing it right.

My opinion....good idea, but still an uphill battle.

1. Signing up bars takes time eventhough it is an easy sell. Owners of bars and clubs have weird schedules and are extremely hard to get a hold of. You'll more then likely have to sell the managers first, who then need to go talk the owners. You (or your rep) will probably never even get to talk to the owner personally. To get a jumpstart you'll hopefully get some reps that have connections into the night life scene.

2. It will be really hard to find a lot of responsible reps that are hard working and trustworthy. This isn't something a rep can make a full time living off of so you'll have to find people with the right kind of schedule. Once you do have a bunch of reps it will be even tougher to manage them all.

3. Your main target market will be 21-28 year olds, i.e. the really often bar-goers. This target market has grown up with things on the internet being free. Even if your membership fee is really low it always presents a barrier.

Like I said...good idea...a lot of opportunities but a lot of challenges as well. Good luck and I hope things work out.

Hey maybe we should make a reality TV show tracking our competition.

Ok this is random but stems from your procrastinate quote. I saw this shirt the other day and it said "Procrastinators unite tomorrow!"

You've got balls to post that here. I'm surprised sarmonkey17 isn't bothered.

Oh I think he has a lot of nerve for a lot of things he says/does. You'd die if I told you half the crap he's pulled. But I'm ok with it. He's made enough enemies in his own back yard to provide a quite large supply of people willing to work with me just for the sole purpose of putting him out of business. I was surprised how hell-bent some people were at making sure he fails.

It's kind of funny actually

I wonder whether the idea is as feasible in the UK. Bars are much closer in the UK, so I figure you're much more likely to take your free drink then bugger off to the bar next door... The proposition seems less good for the bar managers/owners in that case.

Arn't good bars a bit more spread out in the US, or am I totally wrong in thinking that?

Well without revealing any strategies I have in place for exactly what you're talking about just know that it will work. No one will ever get every bar to agree. Some are just stubborn and don't even know how to accept a free service but the big picture of it says most will.

And yes the bars are more spread out in the states but it really just depends on where you're at. In New York City there are probably 40 bars/clubs lined up on one avenue whereas in a suburb of kansas there's one every 1/2 mile or so. So it really depends.

Is the site supposed to be down? Also £5 is a rubbish commission rate.

I think the market is limited enough as it is, from what I mentioned on another thread and also the fact that the market being targeted already get hit with so many drinks offers. Especially the majority who are at uni I think all have ties with bars and you get good drinks offers. I have a couple of bars in my town that give away 2 free drinks.

Yeah he took his site down because he said that he didn't want me to "take" any of his ideas before he got them up and running. Even though every idea he has came from me anyways. So pretty sure whatever features his site contains are merely features I have planned for quite some time as it is.

But good luck to him in the UK. It should be interesting to see how well his plan works. I look forward to a good competition.
