Question really need some help on Mark up %

hi guys I have some question could really need some help..
I want to know what should be my mark up % option

1.if my supply was from factory and I would whole sale or retail the product.?

    2. if my supply was from a dealer whole seller or importer and I just want to retail the product. ?

how would it differ from products
    lets say:
    electronics Product
    consumables goods
    hardware or parts

how much should I mark it up to cover service ,transport & others and still do profit.?

can I have the equation or at least a simplify way of understanding it with example.

    thanks

    Not much help at all...

clifford co: There is no set amount you need to add as your markup, it is calculated on what suits your business model. As in, if you were dropshipping the items from your supplier (direct from them to your customer) you would not have to do much work, and therefore your % would be smaller. You would get the items from the supplier at a higher price, and therefore only add a bit more on for yourself.

If you were buying in bulk quantities and selling them on, you would take more of a markup, because you would be doing more work etc (storage, posting yourself or running a physical storefront all costs you money). Your products would come cheaper from the supplier, and therefore gives more room for your markup.

You need to work out what you want to do, find out what prices you can get them at under your plan of action, then think about your markup, depending on what others are selling those things for.

    Agreed, no possible answer.

If you were to say I am buying PS3's for $150.00 and they sell in stores for $299.00 then yes we can help on your mark up.

I've just started a wholesale business in accessories. I buy it directly from source, calculate all my costs and then add a 20 - 30% markup. It's important to factor in retail price of similar products, and make sure there's room for the retailer to make a profit. Like I said, I've just started, but I've noticed that some products move faster than others and so I've started increasing my markup gradually on these products.
This is my experience, I hope it helps.

thanks guys I know electronics would go from 20%-30% thats if its from factory right? or distributor supplier , just got word from a friend he did around that range for his consumer electronics , would be happy When I finalize thing because Im planning on hardware and semi process materials.

I would try to find similar products selling in my country and work my way back from how much are they selling to where to get supplies.

    thanks
