What are the best ways to raise money for a business besides going to the bank for a loan?

You can't think of any ways to raise money to start a business? Not one? There are hundreds. Do a search of this forum and you will find dozens.

Sorry, missed this thread a couple days ago.

Some other good ones often overlooked:

- Microloans (come from nonprofits, are SBA backed)
- 504 Loans from CDC's (Certified Development Companies)
- Royalty Financing
- Federal Government Venture Capital (SBIC's and SSBIC's)
- Federal, State and Local Grants
- Business Incubators
- Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI's)

If you have questions on any of these, let me know and I could point you to appropriate sources... or you could research them youself.
