Quitting
Well, I am sure every entrepreneur has thought(fantasized) about it, but I really want to quit my job. I really feel like it's holding me back. I work 8 hours with almost 2 hours of commuting, and after that I try to work 2-3 hours a night on my own stuff. I just know that if I was able to fully dedicate myself to my projects, things could happen so much faster for me, and I could escape the daily grind, and work towards making my self rich, not my employer... here's the problem though... I have a great job, Im only 22 and Im making $60k a year without a college degree...
So what do you guys think? Have any experience, stories, links, advice?

Don't jump ship until you have another boat to get into.

Keep your job until you can replace 75% of your income with your business. The decrease in milage, taxes, headache (nod), etc.. will surely over compensate the remaining 25%. Especially considering your age, you should have little difficulty putting in a little extra during the late night hours.
Keep up the great momentum!
Also, on a side note, use your job for all it's worth - invest some of that money as a fail safe; and there's nothing that says you can't intermingle market reasearch with breaks and lunch Cheers!

If you have 6+ months worth of expenses saved and can get a comperable job should your business fail (no offense, most do) then quit.
Far too many people live in the coulda/woulda/shoulda "what if" world. There's nothing wrong with failure, but there is something wrong with never trying.

All good advice. The only other advice would be to listen to these people, they aren't steering you wrong.

Move back in with your parents till you get your business off the ground.

You sound a bit like me. I'm ready to take off from my job to go full time with my own company, but a wife, dogs, and two duplexes tend to throw a bit of a wrench into the plan. Fortunately, my wife is hugely supportive, while also rather pessimistic, which helps a surprising amount. We don't have a ton of savings...I'd say only 1-2 months of expenses, assuming that only 1 of the 3 apartments are rented. So, once they are all rented, our stash of cash should be at least 3-4 months worth, but with the lingering threat of being less. Once I have at least 4 months worth of expenses under the first assumption, I think I'll be good to go.

Ha,I just quit my job today. I do not have enough savings although I have faith that I will make money somehow. Sometimes you just have to jump with out a "safty net" in place. Most people wait until they have saved enough money to start following their dreams and realize it's too late and someone stole your idea.
Just go for it and maybe move back in with your parents.

I always see people posting about quitting their job on this forum. I am kinda coming from the opposite perspective, I am still in college and my goal is to not have to get a job. However, I may for some experience, but financially I would not need to get a job.

Just STAY UP LATER working on your projects as Edison and other entrepreneurs did not sleep more than 4 hours per day sometime! Of course, if you are the one commuting in your car or with others you might need at least 6 hours on week days. Otherwise if you are PASSIONATE and COMMITTED to what you want to do then spend less time goofing off with friends and more on your business on the weekends.
NOW you can keep your job which is SMART as advised and still get going on!
