    Question for all you retailers

    Hey,

I am setting up a business to sell cameras online (for my dad)
I am going to get affiliate programs to make it look like more of a website.

My question is - what do you guys think about selling cameras online? To me selling a camera online seems like a mission as people tend to want to hold and look through the camera before buying it.

Any advice from anyone will be awesome.

if you are selling online, it is all about the price. the people who care about value and good service, will buy at a local store.

"Unless your name is Walmart, dont bother competing on price, you will get slaughtered."

Only way you can succeed, is if the online store is an extension of your local brick and mortar store, and for online sales, you tack on alot of high margin items, extras (such as warranties, batteries, cleaning kits, etc.)

Do something different! Take a video of each camera - talking about its features, showing the display, quality of printed photos... Give them on-line sales consultants that introduce each camera to them. So, even if they can not be there to touch the product your customers feel like they are getting help. You can do self-editing on a Mac, and drop videos right into an iWeb website, and most other platforms that are now available.
