question about product licensing

hello guys me and my buddy got some ideas for products in which we would like to license sports teams and other ideas....how hard is it really to contact a licensor and sell them my idea? i see alot of products that have a licensor on them...wandering what typical costs are involved

i did some research and found this

http://ias.okstate.edu/checklisthandouts/licensing.htm

Before considering licensing an invention, an inventor needs to have the following steps completed before approaching a licensing agent or attempting to license a product yourself.

Intellectual property rights (patent or patent-pending);
Drawings;
Prototype;
Initial marketing information;
One-page typewritten description of your goals for the invention; and
Concise typewritten description of how the invention works.

i saw some guy made home made videos for the youth with nfl and college football teams

also look at steve and barrys for help...i want to do what they are doing but on much smaller scale for one or two products, but want to use licensing from sports teams and colleges

i got an idea similar...just looking for help
