    question about Paypal

Hi, if I use Paypal for my online sales, does that mean the customer must have a Paypal account to make a purchase? If so, is that a disadvantage because it's a hassle to sign up for a Paypal account just so you can purchase one item. That might cost me some sales.

How about regular credit card authorization forms? If I use the Yahoo Ecommerce web hosting, does that include credit card authorization service? If not, where can I get it and how much does it cost?

    Thanks

I wouldn't suggest paypal. The reason is if someone thinks lets say they bought somthing from you from your website and then forget that they bought somtime from you. They then file a complant with paypal or tell them that they didn't buy anything from you. Paypal then would freeze your account to investigate which will holt your business.

I would suggest using Free Merchant Account, PayPal Alternative, Credit Card Processing - Home

I never used it but plan to in the future if you do go with them then tell me how it is.

    hope this helps.

I never really used paypal or the yahoo one.

I know that for paypal if you get a merchant account with them you can accept any credit cards the customer doesn't need to have a paypal account.

I am not sure about the yahoo one but the website I suggested is cheap and you can process credits online, it's a cheaper route I think.

They don't need a PayPal account. There's an option on the left hand bottom side that allows someone to pay with a credit card without signing up. However, it can be easily missed.

I found Paypal to be a hassle. After processing around 800 transactions without a problem, I added Paypal and within a few weeks, a customer disputed a charge and I lost. Paypal was helpful but I felt they were focused on protecting the customer and not the merchant. I also found it a hassle to have to do the accounting for two systems. The rates were not all the great either. Why bother?

I dont know how many transactions you are doing. if it is just a few transactions then one option would be to get the square app for iphone and droid. you can take credit cards over the phone or in person. the rates are really good and there is no set up fee or monthly fee
