    Question about licensing !

    Hi,
I have an idea for kids and I'm thinking to use the existing licensed brands like spiderman, ninja turtles, power rangers, dora, etc....
My question is how do I go about finding information on licensed products and how to deal with them. I dont want like a company to make the product but rather would like to find out how to contact licensed product owners and find out what are the terms under which I can use the existing characters, etc. Is there a royalty that needs to be paid or how does it work? I hope I've explained myself, to be honest, I'm completely new to the business and legal aspects of copyright/licensing and all that stuff.
Any help and advice to atleast steer me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

registered trademark/ patent searches will give you a selection of different products that you might wanna lisence, and the contact details of the assignees (who you can contact)

however....normally these deals are shopped through lawyers, or "lisencing firms". this is a directory of patent attorneys in US. their clients are regularly looking for lisencing deals

overall, to avoid saying things like "Is there a royalty that needs to be paid or how does it work?" join an organisation like http://lesanz.org.au, go to the events and learn the business

p.s: here's the result for power rangers. the people to pitch are (apparently): BVS ENTERTAINMENT, INC. CORPORATION DELAWARE 10960 WILSHIRE BOULEVARD LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA 90024

Be aware also that the trademark and copyright owners will often place restrictions on how you can use their brands and characters. That may pertain not only to ensuring that the kind of use that you will undertake will portray their marks and characters in a positive light, but also to avoiding any uses that are in conflict with existing licenses to other parties that may hold some level of exclusivity.

    Best wishes in your venture.
