    Question about Import Export Business

    Hey all,

I'm very interested in the Import Export business, especially finding out it's worth a yearly $1.2 Trillion!

I think I've grasped the concept, you either import something to your country, and sell it to shops, wholesalers?

    Or you export something out?

Is there a way to import something in and have it delivered directly to the shop etc that wants to buy your product?

How would I get started in this line of work?

How can I do this with minimal investment (Letter of credit?)?
    ($1.5K max)

    Thanks

Well I PM'd you.. but maybe you can read my post more carefully. I'm looking for information on it, why would you reply with "I am very interested in your idea"? Seems spammy to me..

It is called an arbitrage business, and this business is very well explored. Also, seeing as we are in the largest global deflationary correction in 60 years, you might want to stay domestic for a while. Meaning, due to monetary forces, your pricing differentials would easily swing 5% to 8% daily.

Not really. The poster is not looking to take advantage of differences in prices between different economies etc, they are talking about basic import/export I think.

InvestInPixels, what sort of products do you want to import? It is all well and good wanting to do it, though you have to find a product which you can get for a good enough price (including importing fees) that you can sell to someone else in your own country. The problem with starting with 1.5k is your order may not be very big for most things, meaning you wont get much of a 'bulk discount' on most items, unless they are very cheap. Bigger importers will then get a much better price than you.

First thing is to find something that you can import at a profit. You can speak to a freight forwarder/broker in your area to find all the relevant costs for importing certain products (costs will be things such as import duty, tax, insurance and freight costs)
