Pump it up and get implementing!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MOTIVATIONAL SONG?

Everyone loves music. I do and if you dont, you're probably not a very stable person. We love music for many reasons, it has many personalities, we love it for its rhythm etc. but the subject I'll be discussing in this article is more psychological. A couple of years ago, when I was crazy about psychology, I learned of a little thing called an 'Anchor'. An anchor is an emotion, a feeling or a memory that is 'anchored' in your head through a certain process or feeling. Once that process is repeated, re-traced, heard again etc. it immediately brings you back to the state of mind you were in before. This technique is used by hypnotists etc. but we actually execute it ourselves everyday through such things as music and fear.

(If you still dont understand the concept of an Anchor, Derren Brown greatly demonstrated it on his TV show a few years ago. He hired a mini-cab in London and asked the driver to take him to the London Eye. Derren Brown then began to talk nonsense about a little toy car that he lost the previous morning while the driver was trying to concentrate and thus distracting him. Note, this was before the Navigation system was popular. Whilst Derren was distracting him, he was casually drumming his fingers across the board seperating him and the driver. This was repeated whenever the driver appeared to have regained focus. The experienced and licensed driver eventually declared himself lost.)

Anyway, I'm not going to write too much about it. The point i'm getting too is that anchoring is executed unconciously with music but can be done manually. If you have a certain song you LOVE or it's lyrics appeal to you listen to it whenever you're feeling really great, you've just succeeded or your mood is beaming. Find the song if you're ever down or in need of motivation and I'm sure the feeling'll come right back to you. Just dont over do it.

Now tell me, what songs inspire/motivate you most? I'm more of a classical person so I listen to London's 'Magic' radio station daily. The songs played are mostly passionate and mellow, so it's great for any stress too.

Lately, I've been listening to James Blunt's new CD. I should stop because it's putting me in a very melancholy mood. LOL

The lyrics are great, folksy. But yeah, I'm going through some purging of negative stuff, I'd like some suggestions on upbeat songs for motivation. Anyone got any?

    Thanks,

    LT

Interestingly, when I feel like getting creative, I have myself a Red Bull (no plug here, just what my wife usually has in the fridge for her Red Bull and vodkas), turn on some music that really gets me pumped, and get to work. Entirely different from the classical that I listen to when I study.

Energy drinks or coffee get me going too. Classical and passionate songs are mostly for motivation but songs such as Stronger, by Kanye West get me really out there and implementing with speed.

Coffee is my go juice. Caffeine addiction is a bitch. I'm going the healthy route and adding Vitamin Water on the side. My kidneys are thanking me for it. LOL
