    Promotional items - Game over?

We all need to advertise somehow to lure those important customers and possibly the big fish.

Over the years there has been some great ideas in the business of promotional items. We have our customized coasters, pens and pencils, mugs and t-shirts, wristbands and lanyards. In the relative recent past custom imprinted/custom shape USB flash drives came out and made promotional items interesting again.

Today, the USB flash drives can be compared to a cassette player and the other mentioned items to caveman's tools. How can anyone promote their business using the tools of the past? The customers are already fed up and tired of looking at these items.

I have searched over and over for a better and exciting solution with no success. Has anyone find anything modern and attractive? Is there anything that can revive the promotional item industry?

You can put your name on anything these days... so go with something people actually want. Where do you plan on distributing them?

The lastest and greatest promo product I have run into recently has been the customized flash drive.

My opinion, if a product could save the promo item industry, the flash drive will be it. Many people want these and need these. When a company gives their clients a flash drive, it shows class. The flash drive is usable, and the client can keep this much longer than any kind of literature.

Flash drive is the way to go!

The number one form of advertising is Word of Mouth. Nothing is better.

Sure thing, just got to multiply those mouths.
Thats where advertising, marketing and networking come in.

I agree...a nice mug won't make up for a crappy product.

Thanks for trying to help out. It looks like no one has an answer.

Most likely, unless there is a new technological discovery, we are not going to see anything novel or interesting in the promotional industry.

I checked out your site; however did not see any customization services. If I want to put a logo on a t-shirt or anything else, how would I go about it.

Most importantly, though, what is your best promotional idea to break through the regular t-shirt, mugs, bracelets, usb drives mold?

Hi dal5560, I think I am able to help..
Before that Í will like to check on these:

    1. Who are Your Clíents?
    2. What are their Concerns and How your offerings address that concerns?
    3. What is/are the Difference(s) in Your Offerings to the Your Clients?

I am searching to see if anyone has a novel idea, not help with positioning old ones. Thanks though.

The 3 questions asked are the very basic questions that add values that benefited to the concerns of your specific customers..

It is never about ideas, products or services..
Anyone can copy that and the industry will be filled up all the "Me too" companies and compeitors..

It is always about bringing the values & benefits that meet your customers' concerns that comes with the ideas, products ar services that really works..
I really hope you are really looking at doing things differently..
I really hope you got ansners to the 3 basic questions that give your company the compeitive edge..

In order to have a successful venture you must have high barriers to entry for your competitors. The barriers to entry for promotional items (i.e., ASI or "trinkets and trash") is low. Anybody can do it.

What is your proposed competitive advantage which will allow you to stand out from the crowd?

It simply depends on your business and the promotional item you choose. Those are the deciding factors of if your campaign will be successful.

At my school we were given these cool flash drive pens as a promotional product. Although I was already at the school, and they already had my tuition, it was still a cool and useful gift.
