    Professional Songwriter looking for advice

    Hi everybody,

Thank you first off for a great website and community of people.

I am seeking advice and hope that someone on this forum will be able to help me. I am a songwriter with over 10 years of experience. I am currently working on my first website which is planned to make new potential clients aware of who I am and what I can offer to them.

My first question is this, when I am creating a "services" page which will give the visitor an idea of what I can offer what is the best way to create this? Should I have plenty of information about what I do and how I do it (as a writer) and then offer a quote form for the visitor to fill in for future work? or should I just offer set prices where the visitor can make a payment and then we handle all the details after?

The only downside I can see to the latter option is it removes my freedom to pick and choose which clients I will work with as I do not want to sign myself up to working with someone who I would not want to work with because they have already made a payment so any advice is very much appreciated on this issue...

Also, I need a way to market myself even more, perhaps a clever way to generate a buzz about my name and what I do... I am thinking every moment about ideas but as of yet have not had any great ideas, so please also feel free to leave me any thoughts on that if possible.

Thank you all for reading this and for any help you can offer.

    Thomas

I think you should create two pages - a quote form, and a payment page (NOT included in the navigation). Here is the process I have in mind:

    1) The client fills in the quote form
    2) You read over the quote and decide if you wish to work for them
    3) You then e-mail any successful applicants saying congratulations, and giving them the payment link in the email.

With this way - Your email is the only way they can get to the payment page - and it means you still get your freedom and they can still pay for the work upfront.

Just a suggestion - as for the marketing, if an idea was that clever, someone would already be doing it - or wouldn't give the idea away, sorry.

Thank you for your advice Milkerz

This is what I will plan to do, I have set up a page where the artist can contact me for a quote, they will submit their email and number and what I will do is follow up their quote by calling them as opposed to emailing them... I find this creates a better bond between myself and the artist and will probably be more likely to lead to work. Following the call if everything is ready to move forward I can them email them a payment link to complete the process.

Thank you again, you advice helped me in the right direction.

As for the marketing, I have a few ideas which I am going to test.
