    Post your invention ideas

I don't plan on making these or selling them, so here are mine. They are free to take.

-An at-home multi-purpose fitness machine that generates electricity from the person using it. Every time you apply your energy to the exercise machine, the machine will generate power to a power supply. It gives people some incentive on trying harder and saving some money from the electricity bill.

-Door mat that gets up to 500 degrees in a second and lasts for a second to steam off the water on your feet.

-I was thinking of creating a massive forum web site, with every possible topic and a bunch of extra little things. If you were to search for some forum on Google, this one would be the first to come up. After a year or so, when there are thousands of members, where friendships and bonds are made, I would issue two dollars a month to continue being on the forum. People would have to succumb to paying the toll and I will be rich.

-Create a safe that locks personal possessions from you for an adjustable amount of time. This is a good way to stop using certain possessions for a period of time.

-Belts buckle that is a clip. You clip your under shirt to it so when you take off your sweatshirt, your shirt won’t ride up.

-Socks that have a Velcro or button on the tips. Before you put them in the laundry, you can attach them. This way it won’t be hard to find the matching socks.

    -socks
-forum (although niche is the key)

Ideas that I would like to see implemented...

Robot dog food dispenser: My dog spends 90% of the day sleeping and looking sad (to manipulate me into taking him for a walk) + he is overweight. Solution: A furry metal spherical robot that spins around the backyard, and dispenses food when caught. The dog could wear a special collar with a chip implant, so the robot could track his position & calculate his speed. And maybe some sort of boundary sensors could be placed on the fences.

    Audiotv:
I dont know the physics behind this- but it would be cool. There are lots of times where it would be impractical to watch tv- But you would still want to know what was happening (ie you are not allowed to watch tv, by evil parents, or you are on the bus). The solution: Audio tv- A small round device with an expandable attena, that fits in your pocket with headphones, that lets you hear the audio of TV shoes. It would also have a radioreceiver- so you could tune into your favourite radio show during the tv ads. Portable tvs with mini screens used to be popular awhile back and they were the size of the original nintendo gameboy, so I figure If you just built one for receiving tv audio signals, it could be much smaller.

Im always forgetting to charge my mobile phone- + my ipod etc. Wouldnt it be cool if you had a portable renewable power source? One which you could roll up and was compact. The product: Solar Powered Fabric. Now this if it ever became feasible would be thicker than normal fabric, So I dont think you could make tshirts out of it (but that would be cool too). I can see it as a sort of matt you could unroll to collect the sunlight- and reroll to carry around. It would have a power adaptor extenstion so you could connect your devices to it.

Only one I would take is the socks, but velco isn't strong enough, you would need to reconsider how they could be attacked...its an excellent idea.

As for the rest...fitness machine: these machines use a large amount of electricity to run in the first place, you wouldn't generate enough energy to power more than a light-bulb.

Door mat: very few materials can reach those kinds of temps within seconds, and the ones that do cost an absolute fortune. BUT... some sort of air blast like the way a hand dryer works could be considered.

Massive Forum: Two problems, first of all the amount of servers you would require to run this site would be huge and extremely expensive to run in the first 6 months when you haven't got many users yet, you would get serious cash flow problems which would put you out of business. Secondly, forums are communities where people like to build up a reputation, on such a big forum everyone would be virtually unknown to eachother.

Safe: Don't understand this one, just sounds like a time lock safe.

Belt/Clip: Yeh i guess this could work, dunno what the selling potential is though or who your market is. strippers? lol

Any way thats my 2 cents

    Good Topic!

Notice how your mind works. You generate ideas for sustaining innovation, kind of like making a better mouse trap.

Why have socks- when you can have Velcro socks! Nothing wrong with that, except this stuff has it's own risk-return profile, which is hardly ever the best available risk-return profile.

Try to shy away from sustaining innovation. You will enjoy much more working with disruptive innovation.

A computer device that will replace both the PDA and PC, or essentially combine the two. In essence, it looks like a PDA, but acts like a PC. You can connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and peripherals just like a regular PC, yet when it's time to go, just undock. I could see quite a few locations having docking stations (schools, hospitals, etc.), allowing you to access your machine right there. Of course, you don't need the docking station, it would also function as a PDA, music and video player, etc..

The device would use a low-power x86 processor and an embedded Windows operating system (or perhaps a Google/IP based operating system, should one ever be developed)...

In the beginning, it would generally operate using an 600MHz processor and 256MB of RAM, and 40GB HDD...But as time progresses and technology gets smaller, the speed and capacity would increase. Still, those specs would be good enough to handle music, video, and basic productivity applications.

The device would be known as the "Personal Desktop Replacement", or PDR for short.

    hehe. IT IS a shame!

Opportunity recognition is a specific skill to occupational (trained) entrepreneurs.

People have written Phd's on the subject covering everything from how to identify opportunities, qualify the damn things, make your selection and go through the process to capture the opportunity, within the available window of opportunity.

One way to do it, as Thomas Edison did is to match seemingly unrelated concepts and see what comes out of. You get two columns of words and you match them- that's one way to innovate. Have a look here for example.

Example: "Socks" in one column, "Velcro" in another = Velcro socks!

"Book" in one column, "Light Bulb" in another = pages with back lighting!

Do this with a few hundred words and you'll get a lot of ideas...I mean A LOT.

So yeah....opportunity recognition is a unique skill to entrepreneurship. No other profession specializes in it, and if you wanna do entrepreneurship, this is something you might want to get good at. Concept matching is one way to do it, there are other ways, but there is a lot more to it.

Ideas, because they can be generated in very large volume, very quickly, are a worthless commodity. Opportunity recognition must rhyme with opportunity execution- another popular Phd subject.

Sounds like PPC/Google Adwords - only pay for clickthroughs.

Although, it sounds like your ad system may only require payment for conversions?

Remember guys, your idea doesn't have to be 100% unique. All it has to be is a little bit better (in value, features etc) compared to the competition.

Remember, when google started search engines they were nothing new. Google simply had a better way to doing search and everyone uses google now.

My main ideas almost always focus around these areas:

    1) education (how to make it chaper/easier to use/faster to learn).
    2) energy (how to produce synthetic biogas/biodisel, renewable energy)
    3) housing (how to make housing cheaper/easier to build/safer/longer lasting)
    4) food (how to produce more food, use less water, get rid of pests, be more efficient at resource use).

All of my ideas are focused around making xyz commodity or service CHEAPER. I believe people are heavily price focused (ie. success of wal-mart as an example).

You might be wondering why I focus on those 4 areas, have a look for yourself:

    http://www.bls.gov/ro9/cexwest-chart.gif

Over 50% of the household budget goes to housing, transportation, and food. Every other category is very small. So making advances in any of those categories will make you lots of money.

That idea already exists. Its called AFFILIATE MARKETING! Have a read:

Affiliate Marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. It is an application of crowdsourcing. Examples include rewards sites, where users are rewarded with cash or gifts, for the completion of an offer, and the referral of others to the site.
In other words, the business only pays for results. The results can be anything the business owners wants: visitors, people to do specific tasks, or when referrals buy stuff (commission).

    Short Description
Re-useable toilet seat cover, a see-through plasticy material thats elasticated to fit around a toilet seat.

    Whats it purpose
well, when on/in a public toilet you dont know what germs etc are on the seat but with the toilet seat cover (i havent gave it a name yet) it would provide protection between you and the toilet seat!

what if i get it messy
due to it being made from a waterproof material (similar to water proof clothing) it can be easy washed/cleaned with the brush which is provided and located facing the flush unit (brush clipped to the seat cover).

    how is it stored
the plan, is with the brush located at the rear, the seat cover folds tightly into a press stud compartment opposit the brush.
making the whole unit easy storable in a bag or in a big trouser pocket.

    who would use it
its aimed at everyone from adults to young children.

    ------------

i hope you liked the detailed(ish) explaination of the product
