Poker Room

I was working in class and I heard one of my friends talking about poker and how much fun it was. I personally play a little bit but I'm not extremely competitive. Then it hit me, why not set up an poker room for the students in my high school. I know their are some legality issues because I'm in the United States but I just kinda of hit me. I am going to start on a business plan tonight and try to finishes it within two weeks to a month but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on starting a poker room.

Are they over 18/21? Will it be for REAL money, or just play money?

If it's just play money you should get away with any legal issues, but how will you generate a profit?

If it's real money, i think you would find yourself in a lot of trouble, being high school students probably arn't 18/21.

Also will it be online or offline?

Just a few things..

It is all underage. Gambling in general is illegal in Idaho except for the lottery because the taxes from it go to education.

I have two ideas to make money, one is a cover fee at the door and two is to take 10% off the top of the winnings. It depends on what I'm thinking about. And online would take to much time and capital for the web site development. so...no online.

I too had the great idea of a "poker room" a few years back when the poker fad hit.

My advise to you is to not pursue.

Focus on supplying the industry. ie. Rent kiosk space in your local mall and produce custom poker tables, offer custom chip sets, custom playing cards, etc.

All these items can be found by a simple google search.

In my spare time I have built few tables, usually cost around $350 to make, sold each for well over a grand. (And I'm completely an unexperienced wood worker) I simply don't have the time for such a venture.

You can only sit 10 at your table, but you can sell to many tables to "poker rooms".
